Class Description

Based On A True Story: A Visual Journaling Class for Kids and Teens

In this class your child will make a ring-bound journal filled with inspiration and pages that are important to him. He will learn to express himself using text and visual imagery. He will learn various art techniques including, but certainly not limited to,

Acrylic painting
Stenciling
Drawing a self-portrait
Rubber Stamping
Collage
Lettering
Finding a personal lexicon (an image that resonates with him)
Incorporating found objects such as feathers, bottle caps, etc.

Most important of all, we will have fun doing this. Because “creativity means letting go of trying to be ‘perfect’… it means being willing to be wild, silly, and downright outrageous.” (quote by Christine Mason Miller)

Classes will be held every Thursday in June. You will have your choice of class – morning or afternoon. Morning is from 8 am to 12 pm. Due to popular choice, afternoon class only is available in June. Afternoon is from 1 pm to 5 pm. Only twelve per class.
